ASSIGNING HOMEWORK:
While daily reading is recommended for KG and Cycle 1 grades, teachers may exercise their
discretion in whether or not to assign homework on a given day.
Long-term assignments: When assigning long-term assignments such as research papers and
projects, teachers to give students ample notice and sufficient time to complete the assignment.
Teachers should consider the students’ other homework obligations when giving such assignments.
If the long-term assignments are supposed to be included in a student’s progress reporting, some
elements of the assignment are to be completed in class.
School Holidays Homework: For students in KG, Cycle 1 and Cycle 2, homework assigned on
extended holidays must not extend to more than half an hour per day. Long-term assignments are
not to be due on the first day back to school after a long holiday weekend or school vacation.
ASSESSMENT OF HOMEWORK:
If homework is assigned, the teacher ensures that the assignment is collected, recorded, assessed,
